Assignment Deliverables
- Laser cut physical object brought to class
- Upload rendered image of 3D Model (.jpg or .png)
- label file YYYYMMDD Lastname Firstname Laser Cut Render Image.jpg
- Upload DXF export of parts to be cut (.dxf)
- label file YYYYMMDD Lastname Firstname Laser Cut Parts.dxf
Overview
- Model the parts in Fusion 360 paying attention to joints and how thick the material is.
- Lay the parts flat
- Prepare a tool path that takes into account the width or kerf of the laser
- Export a DXF file for cutting
- Prepare the DXF file according to the instructions.
- Cut out the parts at the think[box]
- Assemble the project and bring to class
- Export a Render Image from Fusion 360 with a 16:9 or 3:4 or 1:1 aspect ratio.
Requirements
- minimum two pieces cut on laser cutter
- use minimum 1 joint more complex than a butt joint
Assignment Resources
Materials
think[box] sells small pieces of plywood for laser cutting at reasonable prices. Fab Studios at CIA also has plywood available.
