01.07 Video Shot Shooting in Class Exercise

Assignment Deliverables

  • Exported 1080 x 1920 or higher resolution .mp4 video of edited clips from in class shooting exercise (.mp4 with H.264 compression)
  • Label file YYYYMMDD Lastname Firstname Video Shooting Exercise.mp4

Overview

Capture Footage of Different Shot Types

With a partner shoot a minimum of 1 of each of the following 6 shots types .

  1. Establishing Shot
  2. Long Shot
  3. Full Shot
  4. Medium SHot
  5. Close Up
  6. Extreme Close Up

Although, only 1 of each shot is required for the exercise, it is a good idea to capture multiple versions and angles of each shot.

  • For each shot record for a maximum of 5-7 seconds.
  • Set the Shutter Speed to double the frame rate.
  • Use ISO and Aperture to adjust the exposure.

Edit Footage in Adobe Premiere

  1. Transfer the video files to your computer and put them in a labeled folder.
  2. Open Adobe Premiere and create a new project, label the project and save it in the same folder as the video footage.
  3. Import the shooting exercise footage into Adobe Premiere. How to Import Footage
  4. Practice using the editing tools in Premiere according to the in class instructions to edit your shooting exercise footage.
  5. Export a mp4 video with H.264 compression.
  6. Upload the mp4 to Canvas.
