08.01 Jumpsuit Assessments
On this page
Use the following questions as prompts for a self assessment of you jumpsuit. You do not have to answer any of the questions but it is recommended that they guide your assessment.
- Is the jumpsuit fully completed according to your original design?
- If not: What steps or components still need to be finished.
- If so: Are there any elements of the design that evolved or deviated from your initial plan during the construction process?
- What is your overall assessment of the final garment?
- Describe what you consider to be the most successful aspect of the jumpsuit and the area that leaves the most room for improvement.
- How successfully does the final jumpsuit fit?
- Evaluate how well your drafted pattern translated into a wearable 3D form.
- How is the ease and mobility? Are there areas where the proportions need adjustment for better movement
- Evaluate the closure system. (zipper, buttons, snaps, ties, or other) Is it fully functional and securely installed? Is it neatly integrated, and do the corresponding sides align perfectly when closed?
- Did you finish all interior seams to prevent fraying?
- What seam finishes did you use? (serged, French, flat-felled, zigzag)
- Were these the most appropriate choices for your specific fabric’s weight and drape?
- Are the leg hems, sleeve hems, or armholes, and neckline properly and cleanly finished? Are the hems even and appropriately scaled for the garment?
- What was the most challenging technical obstacle you faced while constructing this jumpsuit?
- How did you problem-solve or overcome it?
- If you were to draft and sew this exact garment a second time, what would you change?
- Note any specific pattern alterations, different construction techniques, or order-of-operations shifts you would make.
