06.10 Polygon Modeling Rendering Exercise Assignment
Assignment Deliverables
- Render images of a specific object modeled in
Blender
and in
Maya
(png, jpg)
- Label files YYYYMMDD Lastname Firstname Polygon Modeling Render Image
- Model files saved from Maya (.mb, .ma) and Blender (.blend)
- Label files YYYYMMDD Lastname Firstname Maya polygon modeling file.mb and YYYYMMDD Lastname Firstname Blender modeling file.blend
Assignment Overview
Rendering in Blender and Maya takes a bit more setup than rendering in Fusion 360. The extra steps required ultimately allow for more customization of the renders. Once a scene is setup with lights and objects, then everything can be controlled and ultimately can be animated.
This exercise introduces using lights and physical based material shaders in Blender in Maya. To render an image, it must have lights setup in the correct locations to light the object or scene. Varying the intensity and distance of the lights will change the look of the render dramatically. Experiment and render multiple versions of the scene that you create.
Requirements
- Include the form of the example “block” in both scenes
- Minimum of 1 light (can have more lights)
- Minimum of 2 objects, example “block” model and background (can have many more objects, and likely should have many more) - experiment and try things out
- Apply materials and/or shaders to objects and background
- Minimum 1920 x 1080 pixel render images
- Render a scene in Maya
- Render a scene in Blender
