Assignment Overview
Continue developing your selected XR Studio project. Spend approximately four hours outside class completing activities that move your idea toward production. Document what you try as you work. An unsuccessful experiment can provide useful progress when you explain what happened, what you learned, and what you will change.
Briefly list your activities. Your work may include:
- Researching related artworks, performances, films, or technical examples.
- Sketching, storyboarding, or revising your concept.
- Following tutorials and testing techniques relevant to your project.
- Installing software and checking that it works.
- Experimenting with tracking, animation, lighting, sound, or generative visuals.
- Making props, costumes, models, or other physical components.
- Creating, collecting, and organizing digital assets.
Updated Project Concept
Write a short paragraph explaining your current idea, what you learned, and how your research or experiments influenced your decisions. Include labeled sketches, screenshots, photographs, research notes, test results, or collected digital content. Identify the sources of references, tutorials, and downloaded assets.
Next Steps
Identify three specific tasks to move the project forward. Note any questions or obstacles you need help resolving. Your next steps can be small. Make it specific, achievable, and useful to the project.
Unsure What to Do Next
- Break your project into smaller parts such as environment, performer, camera, tracking, sound, lighting, props, or another relevant component.
- Choose one part and write a specific question, such as “How can a tracked object control a light?”
- Search that question using search engines, software documentation, tutorials, and related project examples.
- Try a small experiment or make a sketch that applies what you discover.
- Revise your idea, compare examples, combine useful approaches, and adapt them to your own project.
