Assignment Overview

Take a minimum of 3 versions of the planned photo for use in the Digital Mimesis Assignment

Look at the culture content that you are using for reference. Identify the photos in the image. Think about the composition of the photo and the lighting.

1. If the photo includes people:
   • What are they wearing? Are there specific costumes, accessories, or props?
   • What is the pose, posture, or body language?
   • Any unique or noticible makup or hair styling?
   • What is the facial expression?
2. What type of composition or shot type is it? Is it a close up, medium, or a full shot?
3. How far is the subject from the camera?
4. How far is the subject from the background?
5. How is depth of field used? Is everything in focus or is the background blurry? How can you use the aperture setting on the camera to recreate it?
6. What position is the photo taken from?
7. What is the angle? Is it low to the ground or from up above?
8. Is it a telephoto shot or a wide angle fisheye shot?
9. Is the lighting hard or soft?
10. Are the lights diffent colors?
11. Does the image feel frozen in time or full of action?
12. Is there specific lighting that makes the image washed out or shiloeted?
13. Are there objects in the foreground and background or are those taken as separate photos?
14. Are there small details such as cups, furniture, animals, that give it a particular feeling?
15. Is there motion blur in the photo from the subject moving, the camera moving, or both? How can you use shutter speed to recreate it?
16. What is the color palette of the image? Is it warm or cool? Are there repeated colors?
