11.01 First In Class Shoot

On this page

Record an initial shot from your planned Virtual Production during this class. Choose something achievable with the environment, props, and people available now. Work toward a take that could become part of the final video. If that is not possible, then a test that reveals a useful change also gives you something to develop and document. You may use relevant footage, setup photos, or notes in your individual progress report.

  1. Choose one shot. Use your script or storyboard to identify a clear action or visual change. Agree on who will perform, assist with the setup, and note the useful take.
  2. Prepare what the camera sees. Compare and adjust the in camera framing with professional reference screenshots and drawn storyboards. Use an available virtual environment and a simple physical prop. Other parts of the production can keep developing over the coming sessions.
  3. Rehearse the action and check the framing and movement before recording. Start recording before the action and leave a short pause after it ends so you have room to trim the footage.
  4. Watch the take once before moving to the next setup. Is the action visible? Do the performer, prop, and background work together? Record another take if a small change would help since it is easiest and fastest now while everything is setup and in place.
  5. Confirm that collaborators can access the footage and that it has a backup. Write down what you need to change before the next shoot.
