03.07 Podcast Topic Preparation Assignment

Assignment Deliverables

  1. Bring a prepared list of 2-3 possible podcast discussion topics to class.
  2. For each topic, write 1-2 sentences describing what you could discuss, question, debate, explain, or tell a story about.
    • Label file YYYY-MM-DD Lastname Firstname Podcast Topic List (.docx, .pdf)

Assignment Overview

Next week, we will work in the recording studio to practice recording voices and producing a short podcast style conversation.

Before class, develop 2-3 possible topics that you would feel comfortable discussing for several minutes. Your topics do not need to be highly developed or researched. They should simply give your group something interesting to talk about.

Choose topics that are open enough for other people to participate. Avoid topics that depend entirely on specialized knowledge or a personal experience that only you can discuss.

Possible approaches include:

  • a question you have an opinion about
  • an art, design, technology, or cultural topic
  • something you recently learned
  • a disagreement or debate
  • a shared college experience
  • a story or experience that could lead to a broader conversation
  • something you would like to ask other students about

In Class

You will compare your ideas with your group. Your group may:

  • choose one person’s topic
  • combine several related topics
  • modify a topic so everyone can contribute
  • develop a new topic together

The goal is not to produce a polished podcast concept before class. The goal is to arrive with enough material that your group can quickly begin planning and recording a conversation.
